The Royal Race Returns: Everything You Need to Know About Ascot 2026

About Ascot

Ascot Racecourse stands as one of the world’s most prestigious horse racing venues, hosting 26 racedays each year that deliver memorable experiences for seasoned enthusiasts, families, and international guests alike. Founded in 1711, Ascot is deeply rooted in British history and heritage, consistently showcasing the highest level of racing. Beyond the track, the estate maintains a vibrant year-round calendar of events, including art fairs, private celebrations, and weddings, further cementing its role as a dynamic social destination. With a strong commitment to its surrounding community, Ascot also launched its “Ascot Racecourse Supports” initiative in 2017, uniting its charitable and community efforts under a single program.

About the Royal Enclosure

While tickets are available online for two enclosures, the Royal Enclosure remains Ascot’s most exclusive space. Accessible only to Members and their invited guests, its origins date back to 1807 when a private viewing area was reserved for King George III’s circle during the inaugural Gold Cup. The enclosure evolved into its current form in the mid-19th century following a royal visit that led to the formal creation of a dedicated, enclosed viewing space in 1845. Since then, it has stood as the most prestigious and historically significant enclosure offering lively atmospheres, fine dining, and bespoke views of the racetrack.

Royal Attire

Dressing for Royal Ascot is a defining part of the experience, with summer occasionwear deeply embedded in the tradition and guided by distinct dress codes across each enclosure. This season’s dress code remains a celebration of timeless elegance with a modern sensibility. Ladies are invited to wear refined silhouettes, knee-length or longer dresses, tailored suits, or structured jumpsuits, paired with statement headwear that have a minimum base diameter of at least 4 inches. Gentlemen must adhere to classic morning dress, complete with waistcoat, tie, and a traditional top hat. The result is a polished, heritage-driven aesthetic that defines one of the world’s most distinguished social events.

Enhanced Experiences

Dining within the Royal Enclosure is elevated through a curated selection of culinary experiences. The return of Chef Yannick Alléno with Bar Antoine offers an elegant al fresco sharing menu, and the debut of Wright Brothers presents premium seafood dishes in The Smokehouse. Guests can also enjoy the whimsical Beaverbrook Balloons, a unique open-air dining concept featuring picnic menus by Michelin-starred chef Tom Shepherd, paired with exclusive bar access and views over the grounds. Together, these offerings create a sophisticated yet relaxed hospitality experience at the heart of the enclosure.

Not Just About Prestige

Ascot Racecourse Supports plays a significant role in supporting both local and equine charities, benefiting more than 350 organizations annually through funding, exposure, and donations. Since 2017, in partnership with Berkshire Community Foundation, the initiative has contributed £50,000 each year to projects focused on children and mental health. Additional fundraising efforts, including Royal Ascot, generate over £55,000 annually to support military organizations, alongside ongoing contributions such as ticket donations and hosted events for veterans. The program also collaborates with local groups, notably the Ascot Round Table, helping raise approximately £70,000 through community events like the annual fireworks celebration, further reinforcing its commitment to meaningful regional impact.

As excitement builds for Royal Ascot, enjoy this year’s race as it unfolds, watching the winners, celebrity and royal guests, and a new lineup of bespoke experiences come to life.
