Mercedes-AMG Unveils Future GT3 Race Car and GT Black Series Inspired by TRACK SPORT Concept

Mercedes-AMG is bringing its CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT to life, confirming that the high-performance concept will underpin two upcoming models: the next-generation Mercedes-AMG GT3 race car and a future AMG GT Black Series road car.

First revealed as a striking concept, the TRACK SPORT was always intended as more than a design study. It now serves as a fully developed technology platform, signaling the next evolution of Mercedes-AMG performance cars on both the track and the street.

With this move, AMG reinforces its commitment to building vehicles that deliver maximum performance without compromise, whether in motorsport or on public roads.

The upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT3 represents the next chapter in the brand’s successful Customer Racing program. Since the launch of the SLS AMG GT3 in 2011, followed by the AMG GT3 in 2016 and its Evo update in 2020, AMG has remained a dominant force in GT racing worldwide. The new GT3 is currently in advanced development, with testing underway at major circuits including Portimão and the Nürburgring.

Development is being led by Affalterbach Racing GmbH, a dedicated AMG subsidiary focused on motorsport engineering. The goal is to deliver a race car that sets new benchmarks in performance, safety, and competitiveness within GT racing.

At the same time, AMG is preparing what it describes as its most extreme Black Series model to date. Known as the pinnacle of AMG’s road-legal performance lineup, the Black Series badge represents a direct transfer of racing technology to the street. This legacy dates back to 2006 with the debut of the SLK 55 AMG Black Series, a model that helped define the segment.

The upcoming AMG GT Black Series will build on that heritage, using insights from the TRACK SPORT concept to push performance even further. Prototypes have already undergone extensive testing across Europe’s most demanding tracks, positioning the model as a potential record contender.

The two models will also carry distinct visual identities. Red will define the Mercedes-AMG GT3 as part of the brand’s motorsport color scheme, while yellow will represent the new Black Series.

Together, these vehicles mark the next evolution of Mercedes-AMG performance engineering, combining track-proven technology with road-ready capability. As Mercedes-Benz celebrates 140 years of innovation, AMG continues to set the pace for the future of high-performance driving.
