Luxury hospitality in New Zealand is set for a major milestone as Marriott International announces plans to introduce the iconic St. Regis Hotels & Resorts to the country for the first time. Scheduled to open in late 2027, the highly anticipated St. Regis Queenstown will bring the brand’s signature elegance, bespoke service, and timeless glamour to one of the world’s most scenic travel destinations.
The new luxury hotel will occupy a prominent site in central Queenstown, offering panoramic views of the dramatic The Remarkables and the pristine waters of Lake Wakatipu. The property is expected to feature 145 guestrooms and suites, positioning itself among the most prestigious accommodations in the region.
True to the brand’s legacy, the St. Regis Queenstown will include signature experiences synonymous with the luxury hotel group. Plans call for sophisticated social and dining venues including The Drawing Room, The St. Regis Bar, and an all-day dining restaurant, alongside dedicated event spaces designed for private gatherings and special occasions.
A hallmark of the St. Regis experience is the brand’s legendary St. Regis Butler Service, which has defined personalized luxury hospitality for more than a century. Guests can expect attentive, anticipatory service that includes packing and unpacking assistance, garment pressing, and personalized in-room beverage and wake-up service.
Wellness will also play a central role in the property’s design. The planned St. Regis Spa will feature hydrothermal facilities and a relaxation lounge, complemented by an indoor heated pool and a fully equipped fitness center.
Long celebrated as one of the world’s premier alpine destinations, Queenstown attracts more than two million visitors annually with its combination of dramatic landscapes, adventure tourism, and upscale lifestyle experiences. The arrival of the St. Regis brand is expected to further elevate the region’s luxury hospitality landscape.
Developed in partnership with PHC Queenstown Limited, the project represents a continued collaboration between the developer and Marriott International. Once complete, the St. Regis Queenstown will join the growing portfolio of St. Regis properties across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, reinforcing the brand’s expansion in some of the world’s most desirable luxury travel destinations.
