The iconic event, also known as the “Run for the Roses,” stands as the epitome of cherished customs and premier Thoroughbred racing.

Steeped in 150 years of heritage and tradition, it has become one of the most prestigious horse races in existence. Southern Charm, Special Events, and Private Suites

Unforgettable experiences, large hats, and mint juleps greeted guests at the Kentucky Derby this year. All week long, fans enjoyed one-of-a-kind celebrations, starting with Opening Day on April 25. The itinerary included Sunday Funday with morning cocktails, breakfast bites, and trackside views, Dawn at the Downs with the contenders’ morning workouts on display, and Winsday, a time-honored nonprofit fundraiser. At the famous Thurby celebration, Churchill Downs was transformed into an energetic display of history, culture, and music. The event partnered with the Frazier Kentucky History Museum, allowing guests to celebrate the Blue Grass State with live performances, photo ops, bourbon, exhibitions, and more. On the Friday before the race, Kentucky Oaks hosted a vibrant gala where guests participated in a $1.5 million purse, enjoyed all-inclusive fine wines and gourmet bites, and supported breast cancer awareness with an all-pink dress code.

No event, however, was as thrilling as Saturday’s Kentucky Derby. Exhilaration filled the day as races ran from morning until night. The races came to an end by crowning Golden Tempo as the 152nd Kentucky Derby champion. Guests with all-reserved seating enjoyed the monumental win with savored chef’s tables and bourbon cocktails, while those with $400,000 private suites delighted in personal wait staff, decadent buffets, spacious balconies, and en-suite restrooms.

The Derby’s Vogue

The Kentucky Derby maintains a motto: fashion over comfort. Attendees were expected to look as fabulous as possible; the race’s official website provided an entire webpage devoted to helping the guests decide what to wear. Whether watching the race live at the track or at home, fans were inspired to take part in the art of Derby Day fashion.

The 2026 Kentucky Derby Style Guide encouraged contemporary approaches to timeless traditions. Guest Style Editor Zanna Roberts Rassi highlighted five key fashion tips to help attendees create unforgettable looks. Bold statement hats, modern embellished skull caps, and simple pillboxes were the focus. While daring designs with feathers and flowers, and textures like fringe and appliqués, were embraced. Staple looks included fit-and-flare silhouettes, in soft spring pastels, to offer a light and elegant touch.

Altogether, the Derby stands as a refined celebration of heritage, elegance, and unforgettable pageantry. Also known as the “Run for the Roses,” the event combines long-standing tradition with modern luxury, drawing an elite crowd to Churchill Downs each year. Ultimately, the Derby is a stylish celebration of sport and Southern culture.
