Aston Martin has officially completed its impressive lineup of production-based GT racers with the introduction of the new Vantage GT4, joining the ranks alongside the recently launched Vantage GT3. This addition cements Aston Martin’s position in GT racing for the 2024 season, showcasing significant advancements in performance that mirror those found in the latest Vantage road car.
Developed in tandem with the Vantage GT3 and benefiting from new technical partnerships, the GT4 model introduces enhancements in aerodynamics and cooling, focusing on delivering peak performance and boosting driver confidence. From its UK base in Gaydon, Aston Martin announced the GT4 on Tuesday, 27 February 2024, emphasizing its role in reinforcing the brand’s commitment to motorsport, ranging from amateur track days to the pinnacle of Formula One®.
The Vantage GT4, designed to captivate partner racing teams and avid circuit drivers, builds on the legacy of its predecessor’s racing achievements. It promises to be a formidable competitor in GT racing’s junior categories, thanks to upgrades across chassis, aerodynamics, drivetrain, and efficiency drawn from the new Vantage road car.
Marco Mattiacci, Chief Brand and Commercial Officer at Aston Martin Lagonda, praised the GT4 as a “born winner,” highlighting its synergy with the performance enhancements of the Vantage road car and its development alongside the GT3. Mattiacci also noted the deepening connections with Aston Martin’s partner teams, who are active across global GT racing spectrums, emphasizing the brand’s dedication to motorsport at all levels.
Aston Martin Racing (AMR), the official GT racing partner of Aston Martin since 2005, is behind the design, engineering, and construction of the Vantage GT4. This continuation of partnership ensures that the GT4 benefits from an unparalleled depth of knowledge and experience, making it a direct evolution of its highly successful predecessor.
Adam Carter, Aston Martin’s Head of Endurance Motorsport, remarked on the GT4’s development, noting its enhanced speed and efficiency achieved by leveraging the road car’s improvements while maintaining the qualities that made the original GT4 popular among teams and drivers.
The GT4 remains closely aligned with its road car counterpart, sharing approximately 80% of its structural and mechanical components. It features a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, adapted for racing with bespoke electronic control systems to meet rigorous GT4 championship performance criteria. Furthermore, chassis modifications and a bespoke aerodynamic package ensure the GT4 is both competitive on the track and visually reminiscent of the stunning Vantage road car design.
After an exhaustive development program, the Vantage GT4 made its international debut at the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, signaling a promising start for its racing tenure. With production in full swing and a significant number of units already delivered to customer teams, the Vantage GT4 is set to continue Aston Martin’s legacy of success in GT racing, offering a blend of speed, reliability, and drivability that appeals to both professional racers and enthusiastic amateurs alike.
